reel movies

I don't usually like reading Glamour but in attempts to find this one article for class (yes class) I came across these mini movies that big stars like Demi Moore and Courtney Cox have collaborated and directed.  The idea is that they are based on the reader's stories that are sent in over the months.  I like the 'Monday Before Thanksgiving' because Laura Dern is in it too!

taking facebook out of love

It's become so common that a guy asks if a girl is on facebook rather than asking for her phone number.  I mean don't get me wrong I'm all up for new forms of communication but this could become a tragedy.  With a click that initial interest can dissipate as you go through photos and comments that leave you questioning if that was the same person you met the other night. Furthermore, unless you are sending msgs back and forth, the communication doesn't have much room to evolve. Plus I thought that was what msn was for.  So I have decided to block all my photos and wall to individuals who insist on making a fb connection.  Maybe this will get them off the couch and force them to dial a number and if they don't, maybe that's a good sign.

love bug

I think I have my first pest problem but it's not as gross as I thought it would be.  They are called silverfish and are mighty fast.  So I discovered this everytime I walk into the kitchen and I turn on the lights.  There are one or two that suddenly run back under the fridge and hide.  So I decided to do a lil more research and found this which made these bugs a lil bit cuter.
"The reproduction of silverfish is preceded by a 'love dance', involving three phases, which may last over half an hour (DAMN). In the first phase, the male and female stand face to face, their trembling antennae touching, then repeatedly back off and return to this position.  In the second phase the male runs away and the female chases him. In the third phase the male and female stand side by side and head-to-tail, with the male vibrating his tail against the female. Finally the male lays a spermatophore, a sperm capsule covered in gossamer, which the female takes into her body via her ovipositor to fertilize the eggs she will lay later on."

7 times over!

Talk about one for the books! We often complain that Toronto is a boring city, seven locations, five cab rides, three pairs of heels, and one adventure would sure make a great story. My weekend started off with revealing to my father that his so called ticket to Dallas was purchased vice versa (Dallas to Toronto, Toronto to Dallas). After a mad dash to the airport we found out that he could only get on the right plane for a total cost of $2000!!! No kidding! So of course we refused and drove home only to find out my cousin had purchased my dad a whole new ticket (wasted another ridiculous amount of money) and he would leave Saturday morning! Waking up at 4am was no fun but sleeping in after made up for it and the fact that I later got to see my karate kids!! I bought a huge sushi dinner (it's hard to find good sushi in waterloo) and I went home to get ready. Once the girls arrived we headed down to our first ever charity event for the United Way at 1 King St. (poshy indeed!) We hung out for a bit but to be honest we got a little bored of the crowd and entertainment so once we left at around 10:30 we somehow managed to not settle on any one place and cab around Toronto's nightlife. We pretty much covered King and College west to finally settle at Garden for some yummy Chinese food. You'd think it was a long night but we were all nicely tucked in by 2:30 eager for breakfast. I will admit that I had a little bit more expectations for the charity event but I can honestly say that it had been a while since I had so much fun! Thank you girls! xoxo

social justice lady to the rescue

A friend recommended I should go as Social Justice Girl next year for Halloween! Great idea! now just come up with the actual costume..
Today I had my first presentation on a social justice issue: child poverty.  It has taken us centuries to finally talk about it and realize how deep the problem really is. I just hope it doesn't take another century to actually do something about it?
Nonetheless while researching I came across some startling facts and believe it or not London has taken the first step in eradicating child poverty after a recent study showed 4 in 10 children were living in poverty in the city.  Great link worth checking out.

what's a girl gotta do?!?

I played by the rules and dropped all the right hints.  So why can't this guy just ask me out to coffee? Is it so hard for the male specie to summon up courage and just ask a girl out??!? I mean come on! If I've been talking to you almost every day and putting myself out there, I am not going to say NO!
maybe it's safe to assume 'he's just not that into me'....
really though? he started it! errrrr
